From my twitter friend @GraveDancer40
I met him last year at the race on August 1st in Montreal, Quebec (it's about an hour away from where I live). My dad and I literally walked all over the island where the track is looking for where they kept the cars and finally we found it. At first I just saw the car (and freaked out over that) and then Joe Foster walked right past my dad (also freaked over that) so I knew we were in the right place. After some more exploring I found their rig and just kind of...chilled there waiting. I turned to tell my dad something and when I looked back...he had just walked out of the trailer. I damn near died. My dad was like "Is that him?" and I said "Yeah". And then I waved. I have no idea why I waved, but I did and he waved back. And then he started walking toward me at which point my brain started yelling "NO! NO! NO!" because there was no way that I was about to meet him. At this point my brain turned off.
Anyway, he came over and said hi, I said hi back and asked him if I could have a picture. He said I could but it had to be fast because he had to get his seat to his car for it to be weighed. We posed for the pictures (he TOUCHED me and I TOUCHED him) and then he thanked me for coming, I thanked him for the picture and told him to have a good race. He left but I chilled around for a bit longer, talked to his pit crew (all really really nice guys) and watched him walk around and just be...him. Actually I watched him go use a port-a-potty (which I giggle at to this day because I refused to use one and yet he, the big Hollywood star he is used one). And then he came back by, waved to me and told me to enjoy the race.
And then he was gone.
It was like...maybe 5 minutes of time with him. Best five minutes of my life.
The race is in late August this year and I already have the time booked off work as I'll go see the team race whether he's there or not but I have my fingers crossed that he'll be there again.
